So I know there are people that are 18+ so if you have ink why not show it off Smile

I have 2
A Molnija mark

and the words
"I know I live...
But like a stone
I'm falling down"

I want to add corner borders to the words

nice! Are the words a quote from something or your own words? What kind of border are you thinking about?

I've been wanting a tat since i turned 18 ( i'm 21 now) But i'm so indecisive. I'm passionate about one thing -hardcore passionate- for a year or so and then i lose interest in it entirely. And i don't want to get something corny and typical like my name lol. I want something meaningful. I was going to settle for a peace symbol because thats the one consistent thing i love. But i want a unique peace symbol- i want someone to draw me one but i dont know any artists :-( Plus, right now the peace symbol is a kind of popular fad so even if i do get a peace symbol i'll wait till the trend passes.

The words are from Falling Again by Lacuna Coil (The Song) I've been listening to them since 2004 and when I heard falling again for the first time I fell in love with it and when I was 16 I had the idea for the tattoo and got it for my 18th birthday Smile
I'm thinking the 2 columns on the sides one side to be crumbling and the other fully intact then vines on the bottom of on and on the top of the other Smile

ooOoo awesome

I only have one. A butterfly on my right foot that i got when I was 20. I wanted something small in case I couldn't handle the pain lol plus it's a reminder of a fun Girls Night Out

please excuse my foot for looking gross Embarassed

I want more but idk what to get. i keep changing my mind. I definitely want something to represent my kids but I'm waiting until we're definitely done having kids. I was thinking about getting a molnija mark but that is getting a bit too popular for me to get. I kind of want to add onto my butterfly but have no clue how to do that without it looking tacky any suggestions?

Think LONG and HARD before you get any other tattoos, or tattoos in general. You don't want to end up on this site: http://ugliesttattoos.com/ Warning: Images may be Not Safe For Work. (NSFW). If you go through all the pages you will find some Twilight themed tattoos. I see all the stuff and these people are crazy. You really wonder WTH they were thinking. Plus, some of these are obviously disgusting prison tats. *shudder* Also, if you get something with writing, make sure both you and the tattoo artist can spell. There's no such thing as White-Out for a tat! LOL!

And seriously, if you are going to get tattooed, make sure you go to a reputable and sterile place. HIV and Hepatitis are forever, too.

^ That site itself is horrible. It seems they've gone around and five-finger-discounted other peoples tat pix off thet net (which is copyright infringement) or fans of the site did it for them to give the site rating hits. Every tattoo has a story and meaning (aside from the few unfortunate people who wake up with one the following morning along with a large hang-over) the story makes the tattoo. If these people had bothered to gather permission along with the images I'm sure the story behind some of the better quality ones would speak volumes. Yes some of them look like a kid brother practicing with his homemade machine, but a lot of them are still really good but portrayed as trash. Making a mockery out of other peoples art is bad form IMO.

I'm a tattoo collector myself. I have a few and a number of pet portraits planned in the future. I really like Tom Renshaw's work and think will hold off for when I can get to him. http://www.tomrenshaw.com/

Hm, i didn't think of it in that way. I understand your point. A person SHOULD get a tat because it's meaningful and has a story. But, imo, tatts posted on sites and stuff aren't done for meaning. Not all of them, but a majority of them. Poorly done tattoos are just that poorly done and then your stuck with it for life unless you can pay for removal, which is quite expensive. But i was looking through that site and some are actually artfully done but i just don't understand why one would get it. But hey it's their body. I did feel some tatts on the site were unfairly posted. Like one person had a portrait picture of his mother or grandmother, some elder lady. I mean what's wrong with that? That's a personal remembrance. Doesn't deserve to be on ugliest tattoos.com.

Wouldn't it be better to get a picture drawn or painted on a piece of paper or a canvas and frame it and hang it on your wall, rather than risk pain and disease and get it carved permanently onto your body? It may sound cliche but it's true, you have to think what it will look like when you get to be 50 or 60 and your skin starts to sag.

Come on. You can't be serious. Did you actually go through the site? I really don't see what is so wonderful or poignant or meaningful in seeing disembodied genitalia, or cartoon characters in inappropriate situations. *shudder*! I'm sorry but those are just bottom line disgusting and you have to wonder wth that person was thinking when they got it. (if at all!) I think a lot of those tats are done on a whim, and "I thought it would look cool at the time". I also shake my head and think, "How much money did that atrocity cost?" Well, in the case of prison tats, they likely didn't cost anything at all, except for perhaps risk of disease.

That's the thing here, you're missing the point entirely. Take the portrait (since you've brought it up) imprinting a portrait (or other item that has significant meaning) on your body as a memorial for someone or some thing is the highest form of flattery. Almost every tat has a lot of meaning, unless as I said before a drunken mistake which is rare as decent shops won't tattoo someone in that state. The body sags, yes, you aren't going to be sharing the sagging body with the world anymore anyway, the memory is then yours which is what it started as.

I am quite serious, and of course I looked through the site or I wouldn't have judged it yet. The nasty comments under each stolen image set the stage of their ignorance. You don't see the meaning for what you consider distasteful art because they aren't meant for you, they are personal to the person who received them. Prison tattoos are also earned and only given to those who deserve them - do they pass state health codes? Heck no, that's not the point. Have you looked into the real, hardcore art of tattooing at all? You might find it fascinating once you get past learned opinions.

Bottom line. Don't get a tattoo unless it's from a reputable shop - if you're in jail, wait until you get out. Very Happy Check out your artist and study their portfolio (they all have them) Do this and disease and bad art are nothing to worry about. Don't form opinions based on someone who has no knowledge in tattoos, ask people who actually have them or better yet sling them they are always more then willing to talk about their art.

That's one of the main reason I don't I have a tattoo. I personally went to a bunch of tattoo shops, and there is this one shop around where I'm from that is 100% clean and legal and sterile. But the owner is the only one who could tattoo worth a damn. He did all my pierces. Since I'm the youngest of the gang, all my friends got all their pierces AND tattoos done by him. But he hardly books to do tattoos anymore. But one day he hired this girl. She was amazing. I saw her portfolio and i made an appointment for her to free draw a concept. She was going to make my original tattoo. But then there was an accident. Hit and run. :-(

I just can't find another place and another person that i like. Since i'm from NY almost everyone i knows just goes to any ol' tattoo shop in the village. Yeah, not me. Don't think the places are clean. They don't have portfolios. Got a piercing done there once... I ended up going to the tattoo shop I was talking about above to get it fixed. I rather wait for that perfect shop and artist.. it'll be worth it in the end.

^ That is just horrible about the hit and run. Wow. Good for you to wait and not be pushed into it. You'll find your artist. Check out online for local tattoo conventions too, you can often pre-book and a lot of really well known artists often attend those things too.

I don't really think it's fair for someone to judge someone else's tatts. It's their choice with what they do or don't do to their body and it's not anyone else's business.

I agree you should do your research for both the tatt you want and the parlor and the artist who will be doing it. Don't jsut walk in some random place and get it done. And who cares if it's not personal or not. it's not your body so why worry about it?

I got a butterfly b/c I love butterflies. Always have. To me they represent beauty, peace, and nature. I got mine on a GNO and it has memories for me. It was one of the funnest nights I've ever had. It's nbd (no big deal).

I don't think I'm missing any point at all. What's wrong with having a photograph or having an oil painting made of a photograph as a memorial? Why deface your body? I'm a graduate of psychology, so I am only looking to understand why people feel the need to do this to themselves. At least a portrait on the wall won't get deformed as your body sags into a pile of wrinkles.

You're kidding, right? There is absolutely no beauty in a poorly drawn male phallus. What these tattooed people don't get is that they are going to get looked at, and it's human nature to judge. And you can't tell me that some of those morons with tattoos all over their faces could be taken seriously in a workplace. There is no way in hell they would be able to get any kind of job that requires working with the public. No way, not going to happen. The only place someone like that could work is where they won't have to work with people. Or do work from home. Like telemarketing.

I'm not at all interested in watching people ruin their skin with that crap. No offense, but from a medical standpoint, tattoos don't help you at all. There is no benefit whatsoever to getting one. You know those popular "tramp stamps"? Guess what? Should the girl decide to have a kid, she can't have an epidural to help with the pain. Know why? Because the doctor can't put the needle in there where the ink is. The difficulty would also be there should God forbid she need a lumbar puncture to test for meningitis. As someone who is trained in drawing blood, I count myself blessed that I've never had a patient with tats all up and down their arms. Those stupid things make life difficult for health care professionals too. All they are is coloured scar tissue.

But hey, to each their own. I mean if people feel that strongly to get a penis carved onto their forehead? Good for them. I'll never get one.

Huh, i didn't know that. About the placement of the "tramp stamp" interfering with such things. Never researched it because just personally and my body type i would never get a tattoo there. Plus, that's a not a flattering place to get considering aging, especially the way my family ages. My sister is 30 , gray hair and balding. Both my parents look older than they are. I try my best to be healthy. Aging rapidly is one of my absurd fears but reality is no one can beat mother nature, or genetics. lol

It makes sense how arm tatts are in the way of drawing blood. My bf has an arm tattoo, but he considered that. He's veins are very visible even through the tattoos. and never had a problem drawing blood. But, he thought about it and even asked before hand.

I think little things like that are important but people forget to think about it . An ex friend of mine just got a GIANT tattoo completely covering her wrists. I saw it and shook my head. She will never even be able to go for a job interview and just shake some one's hand without them noticing it. I wanted a tiny tiny tattoo on my wrist but , like i said tiny that is barely noticeable and can easily be covered with even a bracelet.

I didn't knwo about the whole tatts interfering with drawing blood etc. Thats definitely something to consider. I don't think ppl should tattoo every inch of their body. It's trashy but a tattoo or 2 that are small aren't bad. Like you I would never get a tatt of a penis or anything along those lines. Why the hekl someone would do that is beyond me...Me personally I will only get a tatt in places that can easily be hidden like the one on my foot. Cause visible tatts do affect work.

Well, when I was doing my training, we were told we should avoid areas that are tattooed. That's ideally. If we can find a spot that has non-inked skin, that's where we'll have to aim. IF not? I'm not sure...it's been a while since I've trained, and as I've said, I have never encountered a patient with that many tats. There are I'm sure other, more painful alternatives such as the back of the hand.

Well, technically we're not supposed to draw from there. Good for him though that he doesn't have problems with it.

My sister did dye her hair a lot so maybe that's contributing. I never did because of her. Lol. Even though i want to, i can't bring myself to do that to my hair. Last spring my good friend found 3 gray hairs in my hair... i didn't believe her.. so she picked them up so i can see and said " One from school, one from your parents, and one from Omar( my bf) " Lol. I was murderous at the world that week. lol
