PostSubject: Cirque du Freak Books vs Movies   Mon Dec 21, 2009 11:32 pm

I have a question. And I'm hoping I have started this thread in the right area. OK. My question is about the movie, "The Vampire's Assistant". I haven't seen the movie yet, but I want to know how many books the movie covers. I have read the first book called, "Cirque du Freak" and I have the second book "The Vampire's Assistant" on my "To Be Read" pile. So has anyone here read all the Cirque du Freak/Darren Shan books and has seen the movie who can tell me the answer to my question? NO SPOILERS, PLEASE! I just want to know how many books I need to read before seeing the movie.

The movie covers 3 books.

1: Living Nightmare.
2: The Vampire Assistant.
3: Tunnels of Blood.

The movie sucks....actually is beyond sucking.....read the books and don't watch the movie . That would be my advice . There's 12 books in total .

The only thing i know they got right, overall, would have to be the casting, really...otherwise, the movie has a chaotic feel, when it comes to managing the overally good concepts the movie had, going for it, i feel.

Which is a shame, since i recalled Vampire Academy trying to fill in the boots of the Gemma Doyle and Cirque Du Freak novels, by Libba Bray and Darren Shan, respectively, really. Sad

I think the casting was what made the movie a total piece of....

Thanks for the input guys. I appreciate that.

So neither of you really liked the movie, eh? Did you find that the movie didn't follow the books? That annoys me a lot when movies based on books don't follow the books.

When I saw the trailers I thought it looked kinda fun and kooky. But if you say it's crap then I may skip it. I was planning on renting it. It's not out yet, is it?

I'm personally prepared to spare the guys playing Darren and Steve, to some extent, as well as the guy playing Crepsley, as well, but the rest, not so much, sadly, Chris. pale

I feel saddened that the Weitz Brothers messed up, again!

Unless its Del Toro or Zack Snyder directing, i'm beginning to wish the same thing, Chris.

That's coming from a guy who already knows that Columbus did a competent job, at the 1st two Potter-World movies, at least, too.

All they'd be missing, is some sort of Killer Instinct, but otherwise, they were actually good.

At any rate, we need Zack Snyder to direct the sequel.
