| So, I've been catching up on the internet and was on RM's blog. In her blog I learned she has the official page count for Last Sacrifice . The total comes out to 600 pages! I was so excited to read that. Are you all satisfied with that? |

| This is the quote from Richelle's blog | Quote: | | In other news, I'll have some cool info soon for people in Toronto (hopefully early next week), so stay tuned. For news that everyone can enjoy, Last Sacrifice has been typeset, which is when my publisher converts it from my Word document to formatted "book-sized" pages. And how many pages has it come out to? 600! That's the longest in the series so far, clocking in at 153,000 words, for those who track word count. Good times. |
Here's the link to her blog.

I'm super excited. I'm already thinking of which books to chuck in my closet and out of my shelf to make room for a 600 page book. Lol . |

| I get worried about long books. I mean, I'm excited and happy that LS is going to be so long, but at the same time it always makes me wonder if the author has too much to say in one book or if it'll be dragged out or something. I have faith in Richelle, but at the same time I don't want it to be one of those books that cold have been resolved earlier or has too much for a final book. |

Yes BD was long and boring .. When I read the book I read all the first part (Bella) then I see "Jacob Book" and I skipped all that book a went directly till Bella again.. time later when I read a fanfiction I found that the Jacob book isn't a side story but part of the BD book..hahaha.. I laughed at myself for been so stupid to skip 1/3 of the book...
But I liked HP 7 , because after all the theories and expeculation in blogs, fanfiction, etc.. all were proven wrong and JK Rowling created a whole new plot to put together all the pieces in the first books and gave us a great long and enjoyable ending... each HP book is longer than the precedent and I enjoyed all of them!!!
I think LS will be that long because there will be a long journey : "escape and/or prove Rose inocence" - "find Lissa's sister/brother" - "changes in the council/laws" - "happy romantic endings", the previous books occurs in a short space of time only a few months... for the journey in LS more space time is required!!

| I can run myself sick with worrying about the book being dragged out because of the 600 page count. I personally hate the snow ball effect...the story goes at a slow set pace and then everything dramatic happens at the end. Then again, i hate when authors build up all the anticaption and then have an anti-climatic ending.I have my concerns but I refuse to let them come forth. I'm just letting the excitement for the book in general take over and put my faith in RM's awesome writing/storying telling. She hasn't let me down yet and i don't expect to be.
LOL at skipping over Jacob's part of BD. I actually told people read book 1 ( bella's first part) and book 2( jacob's part) and then stop reading. I really hated the ending of BD i felt it was anti-climatic. lol. |

The Twilight books are all unnecessarily long because Stephenie focuses more on description and repetitive narration than actual action. Richelle Mead's books don't have that same problem of slowing the plot to a snail's pace by adding too much unneeded description. So this news that LS is the longest book in the series doesn't worry me one bit. Richelle has already proven to me that, unlike Stephenie Meyer, she actually knows what she is doing. All of Richelle's series seem to be well-thought out beforehand so I don't think she would write a 600 page book if the story could be concluded in half that amount of pages. |

lol If you cut out every use of the words "dazzling" "murmuring" "marble" and "Edward", there IS no book. |

| I didn't want it to sound like I was only using BD as an example though...sure it's one of the more recent ones, and I guess page count doesn't really matter too much. Like Tasha said, the snowball effect can go either way...sometimes its good and sometimes not. One of my fave authors is Tamora Pierce, and while her earlier books are fairly small, she's started writing longer ones after the HP books had success being big books. And I've NEVER been bored or disappointed in them. I love them. I'm reading on at the moment which is 596 pages long...and I don't think there's a problem with it. But it's also a stand-alone book (sort of...it is within a series, but the time period makes it by itself) so the story has to develop a bit more and there's a chance for longer plot. But I worry with series books getting bigger all the time, that there's too much happening, especially when it's the final book in the series. HP7 wasn't as big as 5 or 6. It concluded everything really well. I guess what I'm worried about most is that too much is being slotted into the final book. |

I think it was worse with a book like Mockingjay with too much going on and NOT ENOUGH pages. A lot of readers felt it was rushed, and I'd definitely have to agree with them. Some people think her publishers may have even given her a page/word count limit.
I'm personally not too worried about the amount of pages. I'm more concerned if it all flows well as a plot and doesn't feel jumpy. Which LS probably shouldn't because there's more space to reflect on what is happening to the characters. |
